The fastest way to do the things you don’t think can be done is to hang around people already doing them
Last night I attended the San Francisco Live Your Legend LOCAL – World Party at Samovar Tea Lounge.
It was late at night – it started at 8pm!! And I questioned why I had thought it was a good idea to drive for an hour to San Francisco for a 2 hour event where I may not know many people or get anything out of it.
Until I walked in the door, and through each conversation, realized that there’s so much to gain from every new interaction with people who care about making the world a better place.
A friend told me long ago, half the work is just “showing up.”
And it’s true! If you want keep doing things like you’ve always done them, that’s easy. But if you want to change, and grow, you’re going to have to take some chances and sometimes that means driving out of the way for an event that may or may not be worthwhile.
Luckily, for me, it was worthwhile. And it was so much fun, I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share a few doses of inspiration and opportunities for you to connect with others in the same way.
About Live Your Legend
Scott Dinsmore, the founder of Live your Legend, has a message that is rather simple – find & do work that you love. But when you think about the statistic that 70% of Americans do not enjoy the work they do, it becomes more apparent how important this is. If you like your work, and you are contributing in a way that matters to you, you are a much happier person, and the ripple effect of your happiness spreads to your family, friends and the world beyond.
When you listen to Scott speak, learn from his leadership, and see the power of bringing together people around this shared belief, it is evident how powerful the Live Your Legend movement really is.
If you believe in making the world a better place, fulfilling your sense of purpose, and being surrounded by others who inspire you – I think you’d enjoy being part of the Live your Legend movement.

Live Your Legend Local
Last night was my first ever attendance at one of the Live Your Legend local events which have been going on for a year now, since Scott started them with 150 local events all on the same day at this very same time last year. I was blown away at how open, friendly and inspiring it was!
What I like about Scott’s message, is that in this highly commercialized, “look at me” social media-driven world, he focuses on real connections – taking it to the level of local meetups which are in-person, but also encouraging us to show our authentic self, not trying to keep up an image of success. He creates a non-commercial safe space for us all to be who we really are, and encourage one another to live our dreams.
For me, personally, listening to others’ stories last night, and Scott’s inspiring message, helps me think about my true passion behind all that I am doing, and how my mission is connected to leaving the world a better place. It helps me see beyond the day-to-day business building activities and think deeply about the meaning behind everything I am doing. It strengthens my commitment to spreading happiness and kindness in the world, in acts both big and small.
As this new year starts, I have more inspiration than ever for This Cherished Life and how I want to help others. I hope that you, too, continue to seek out new opportunities for inspiration, connect with people who inspire and challenge you, and find and delve into what energizes and excites you this year.
I hope you find new inspiration from Scott and Live Your Legend as well. Here are a few resources to get you started.
